Fairview Developmental Center Art Festival

On March 7, 2007 a Very Special Arts Workshop was held at Fairview Developmental Center. The Center's residents had the opportunity to create six diverse art projects by visiting various booths. Several were able to visit all of the booths and generate quite a number of art pieces. All were proud of their artistic creations. Artwork completed at the workshop as well as in the programs, was displayed at Fairview's Very Special Arts Festival.

The annual Very Special Arts Festival was held on March 28, 2007 in the Fairview Auditorium. Residents, once again, had the opportunity to create a variety of art projects, view approximately 150 pieces of artwork on display and watch performances by 16 of their most talented peers. The performances consisted of singing, dancing and a rhythm band. Approximately 75 pieces of artwork were selected to be displayed at the Orange County Very Special Arts Festival which was held at the Westfield MainPlace Mall on April 21, 2007.

Orange County Very Secial Arts Festival

April 21, 2007

An event of the Imagination Celebration took place on April 21, 2007. The Orange County Department of Education coordinated this event in cooperation with Very Special Arts Orange County and the Council for Exceptional Children, Orange County Chapter #188. This was the 31st annual Very Special Arts Festival. It was held at the Westfield MainPlace Shopping Mall. There were numerous performances throughout the day, with over 20 workshop booths where those attending could participate and over 1000 pieces of artwork from students and facilities throughout Orange County were on display. William Allen Young from the television show CSI: Miami and Paula Dunn, Sign Language Interpreter (Paula@PaulaDunn.com) were our Masters of Ceremonies. A t-shirt design from one of the students, best representing the theme, "Wish Upon a Star", was selected, imprinted on t-shirts for volunteers and others that wished to purchase them. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves from volunteers to presenters to performers to those that completed art projects at various booths. Approximately 75 pieces of art work was selected to participate in a traveling show. If anyone would like to have these pieces of art work for display, please contact Phyllis Berenbeim at 714-966-4303.
